JOURNALISM AT THE CENTRE
Celebrity Scholar Spotlight
Week 4
Samuel Cotthoff
For the last edition of The GSPaper, Samuel Cotthoff has been chosen as the celebrity scholar due to his outgoing nature on campus. Sam has an infectious personality that is seen among anyone around him. He embodies what a scholar is and how they interact socially on campus. Sam attends University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville where he throws for the track and field team and contributes to his school community and theatre program. Sam recalls his favorite moment at GSP as his last word on his showcase four performance in which he closed out the entire show, sharing that he “felt an incredible sense of joy and relief.” When trying to do something special for Sam, he says that he appreciates a nice meal with someone more than a traditional gift, and he likes the movies Coco, In the Heights, and Cruella. As we start to pack for the weekend and start thinking about leaving GSP, Sam shares that he is sad that GSP is coming to an end, but he has accepted that endings are part of life. Even so, as the time comes to an end, the impact of scholars such as Sam on the people he has met will be influential even when scholars return home.
